Once in awhile, even the most hardened frat star questions his life path. Usually this occurs after the eighth consecutive night of shotgunning nattys and consuming too many shots of cheap liquor to count. You know what, its time to turn your life around. You’re going to start going to the gym, only drink four nights a week instead of the usual six, and eat healthy. Well there’s nothing more healthy than fish right? Blackened fish is healthy, delicious, and really easy to make. You’re on your way to turning over a new leaf and being a better human being. Wait…you’re in a frat. Keep drinking, you’ve got your whole postgrad life to eat kale.
1 fillet of a white fish (I use Swai)
1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of chili powder
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
1. Combine all of the spices in a cup. If you have leftover seasoning, cover and save for the next time you make fish or want to use a good seasoning.
2. Apply the amount of seasoning you prefer on both sides of the fish.
3. Heat the oil on medium-high heat. Cook the fish for 3 minutes on each side.
4. Hit the gym and prepare for that marathon you probably won’t run for another 20 years.
